The C21 E-Gravel bike from Fiido is a lightweight and agile eBike that you can easily ride in an urban environment or on gravel trails. What really excites me about this eBike is the integrated battery within the downtube and how sleek and stylish this eBike is. If you want to fly low under the radar with an eBike, this bike is for you! Typically, eBikes have large cases around the cranks and a large downtube that holds the battery. The C21 doesn’t have this and honestly, doesn’t even look like an eBike. The only giveaways are the front light and the display mounted over the stem. So, is this eBike for you? Keep reading to find out as we get into the details of this amazing eBike.

The Most Lightweight eBike I Have Ridden
Typically, eBikes come with a tradeoff compared to a non eBike. This tradeoff is weight. Let’s face it, eBikes are heavy! However, with the Fiido C21, the eBike weight is something you don’t have to worry about. Coming in at 38.5lbs, this eBike is lightweight and nimble. This allows you to have more control over the bike instead of the bike having control over you. I really appreciate how lightweight this eBike is. Stopping and starting is easy and when you need to get off the bike, there is no feeling that the bike is going to tip over on you, which is fantastic.

C21’s Performance
The Fiido C21 is powered by a Mivice M070 drive unit that has a maximum output of 250W. This is plenty of power to efficiently move you through town or on a longer gravel ride. The onboard battery has a capacity of 208.8Wh which has a maximum range of 62 miles. 62 miles is an impressive number given the capacity of the battery. Of course, if you really want some pedal assist, Turbo+ mode will be your best friend. However, the range drops (as expected) to ~21.5 miles. There are five (5) different modes of pedal assist which is plenty for each person to find what works best for them. One of my favorite things about this eBike is how quiet the drive unit is. It truly is whisper quiet and is amazing that you can barely hear the drive unit assisting you. This allows you to enjoy the sounds around you when you are riding instead of having to hear the drive unit whine.

Torque Sensor
One of the unique features about the C21 is it’s torque sensor. Fiido incorporated the Mivice S200 which is integrated into the crankshaft. Well that’s nice, but what does that mean for you?? This implementation allows for the best assist rate when starting to pedal. Instead of using a cadence sensor, which has a longer lag before the assist kicks in, the torque sensor allows the bike to know that you started pedaling and to apply the assist as soon as possible. Meaning, there is a very low delay between when you start to pedal and when the eBike pitches in to help you out.

Notable Specs
The drivetrain for this eBike is powered by L-TWOO and comes complete with nine (9) gears. The C21 shifts very smoothly and the nine gears provide a nice range to get you up hills and hit max speed on the flats. Fiido went with a carbon fiber handlebar on the C21 which adds to the lightweight nature of this bike. There are disc brakes on both the front and back which provides plenty of stopping power and are very quiet.

Ride Impression
The C21 is a very fun eBike to ride. The lightness of the bike is abundant and freeing as you pedal and round corners. The payload rating of this eBike is 264lbs which provides enough headroom to add the rear rack and bag to this bike to carry everything you’ll need for the day’s adventure. In addition, I was able to “share” my pedal assist by towing a regular bike that my wife and daughter (#shotgun seat) were riding up a big hill. This allowed us to really speed up the ride and gave me a good workout in the process. Just be aware that there is no throttle on this eBike, so you’ll have to do all the pedaling.
Is This Your Next eBike?
That’s a great question! The Fiido C21 is an amazing gravel eBike that is lightweight, playful, full of power, and a very solid eBike. In addition, Fiido is running a great sale on this bike as it is listed at $999 instead of $1,799. This sale allows you to pickup a sweet eBike for a price that doesn’t break the bank. I truly enjoyed riding this eBike and was impressed with how quick the torque sensor responds, how lightweight the bike is, and the silent drive unit which allows you to take in your ride in peace instead of constantly hearing the whine of a typical eBike motor. The Fiido C21 is certainly worth checking out and is another great addition to the Fiido eBike line.
Until next time, go fast, pedal further.
