The VLCD6 is the smallest display available for the Tongheng TSDZ2 mid-drive electric motor. A user manual containing operating instructions is not usually included in kits, so I have made one available below.

This is a great little display, but has limited functionality, such as only showing speed in km/h – this can be overcome by multiplying the given number associated with wheel diameter by 0.62 – e.g. 26″ wheel: 208 x 0.62 = 128.96 – the wheel parameter will not accept decimal points so just round up to 129. I have tested this against my GPS device and the speed was reading accurate for MPH.

I don’t quite understand the wheel perimeter figures but they seem to show the correct speed when tested against my GPS.

Operating procedure

Power button function

  1. Power on： press the button for 1 second to power on.

  2. Power off： press the button for 5 seconds to power off.

  3. Mode switch: Press this button to adjust the mode ODO and TRIP

  4. Trip distance reset: In TRIP mode, press the power button and assist down ( – ) simultaneously for 3 seconds, and then the trip distance will be reset.

The function of the “assist – ” button

  1. Assist down: Short press the button to lower the assist level.

  2. Press and hold the button for 2 seconds will turn on the LCD backlight and headlight (if fitted).

The function of the “assist + ” button

  1. Assist up: Short press the button to increase the assist level.

  2. The 6KM walk function: Press and hold the button for 2 seconds to activate the 6KM walk function. Release the button and the function will stop.

Wheel diameter setting

  1. Press assist + assist – simultaneously to enter the wheel diameter setting mode. The factory default is L200 (perimeter is 200cm), short press the power button to locate the figure (diameter) that needs to be adjusted and press the button + or –  button to adjust the figure.

Speed limit

  1. Press the assist + and power button for 10 seconds simultaneously, the speed limit of 25Km/h and 45Km/h will change once, at the same time the speed part will be blinking and showing the highest speed limit figure.

The default speed limit is 25 km/h.
