Ado Electric Bikes – A closer look at the XE range

In the last few years, there has been a massive proliferation in new e-bike brands from Asia. This has been driven by increasing demand for affordable e-bikes, particularly in the US, UK and EU markets. For the consumer, it can be overwhelming, trawling through all the different companies selling their products online. It’s even more difficult to know which brands take their after-sales support, and importantly the safety of their products seriously. One such brand is Ado electric bikes, and in this article I’ll take a closer look at their latest XE range or e-bikes and look at  some of the safety tests they conduct on there e-bikes.

Ado E-Bike Laboratory

One year after the Ado brand was launched, they unveiled their e-bike laboratory, which is the result of 2.5 million Euros of investment. The company founder and CEO, Mr. Sen said: “We want to develop the ADO brand into a long-term brand. If we want to go further, we must invest in product development and experimental industries. ADO has always been customer-focused, and the laboratory is to create the most user-friendly brand. Design tools and carriers for the best experience, only a strong laboratory can have a strong product quality, and can create products with the best experience for users.”

ADO adheres to the original intention of “protecting urban commuting every day”, and is the first QTL electric bicycle laboratory in the industry that has been authorized by the international certification standard SGS – ADO EBIKE QTL Lab. This proves that ADO’s inspection and testing capabilities, innovative R&D capabilities and laboratory management level have reached the level of the domestic leading industry, which means that ADO’s products are all high-quality products that have undergone rigorous quality testing and meet international standards.

SGS (Societe Generale de Surveillance S.A.) is an internationally recognized product quality control and technical appraisal agency, and the largest and most qualified certification agency in the world. Among them, Chinese brands such as HUAWEI, TCL and Haier have also adopted SGS certification as the product certification standard.

Chinese e-bike brands have come under a lot of scrutiny in recent years regarding things like battery safety and such like. It’s really refreshing to see a relatively new brand invest so heavily in the safety and testing or their products. The e-bike market is continuing to grow rapidly and in an ever competitive market, companies that put a big emphasis on safety and after-sales service will thrive.

Ado E-Bikes – The Latest Upgraded XE Models

Ado have recently updated their range of e-bikes. All these new electric bikes individually go through their rigorous testing program before being released for sale. Below, I’ve listed all the models in this updated range in price ascending order.

ADO A16 XE

The ADO A16 XE is a lightweight and compact folding e-bike ,designed with rider comfort in mind. It uses a 250w rear hub motor with integrated 36v 7.5Ah battery. The A16 XE features front suspension fork and a single rear suspension unit, designed to mute the jarring effects of things like potholes and poor road surfaces.  The A16 XE would be a great option for shorter commutes or running errands.

ADO A20 XE

Next up is the ADO A20 XE, this is the upgraded version of one of their best-sellers – the original A20. Featuring full CE certification and EN15194 approval, the A20 XE is ready for European roads! The A20 XE features a smooth, but powerful 250w rear hub motor and 36v 10.4Ah battery making it perfect for daily commutes or weekend leisure riding.

ADO A20F XE

The AD A20F XE is the latest version of their popular folding fat tyre e-bike. This bike benefits from large 20″ x 4″ tyres, making it suitable for riding on more challenging terrain, including sand, snow or mud. Plus, it has metal mudguards, lights and a pannier rack, making it ideal for daily commutes. The ADO A20F XE is fully EN15194 compliant and can be legally ridden on the road in the EU and UK.

ADO DECE 300

The ADO DECE 300, is a lightweight hybrid e-bike designed for leisure riding and fast commuting. It features hydraulic disc brakes for added stopping power and a front suspension with remote lock-out (mounted on handlebar). The 250w rear hub motor is super smooth and quiet, and the bike can be easily pedalled without the assist. Another good feature is the Shimano Deore 11-speed gearing, which is a great bonus if you live in a hilly area.

Conclusion

Ado’s upgraded range of e-bikes look great and I’m sure they’ll continue to be very popular with commuters and leisure riders alike. My personal favourite would have to be the DECE 300.  In the not too distant future, Ado will be releasing a torque-sensing fat tyre electric bike which looks very promising. As soon as it’s released I’ll do a feature article, and hopefully get hold one for a full review – watch this space!
